Yup. The main intellectual contribution of the United States to the world is Pragmatism. Yet it is one of the most ideological countries on the planet. Like the classical teenager insecure about its own relative youth and inexperience, we act like we've got it all figured out according to some neat, tidy system that is mostly bullshit.
